Andhra Pradesh is one of the 29 states of India. Situated in the south-east of the country, it is the Seventh-largest state in India, covering an area of 160,205 km2 (61,855 sq mi). The largest city in Andhra Pradesh is Visakhapatnam. Telugu, one of the classical languages of India, is the major and official language of Andhra Pradesh.

The north-western portion of Andhra Pradesh was separated and forms the new state of Telangana on 2 June 2014 and Hyderabad, the longtime capital of Andhra Pradesh, was transferred to Telangana as part of the division. The new riverfront de facto capital, Amaravati, is under the jurisdiction of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA).

Andhra Pradesh comprises three regions: Uttar Andhra, Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema

It has a total of 13 districts, 3 Districts in Uttar Andhra, 6 Districts in Coastal Andhra Region and 4 Districts in Rayalaseema Region.

These 13 districts are further divided into 50 revenue divisions. East Godavari district has as many as seven divisions and Vizianagaram district has the fewest with two divisions. The 50 revenue divisions are in turn divided into 671 mandals. Chittoor district has the most mandals with 66 and Vizianagaram has the least with 34.

There are a total of 31 cities which include 16 municipal corporations and 14 municipalities. There are two cities with more than one million inhabitants, namely Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.

Sri Yeduguri Sandinti Jaganmohan Reddy is an Indian politician serving as the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He is the son of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy. In the year 2019 National and State election held in April–May 2019, YSR Congress Party sweep the polls and won 151 of the total 175 assembly seats and 22 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh. Sri Yeduguri Sandinti Jaganmohan Reddy took oath as Chief Minister on May 30, 2019.
